MANTEL Publication on Early Warning Systems

Julio Alberto Alegre Stelzer (UNIGE), ESR for Project 12, and co-authors, have published a new MANTEL Project research paper in the journal Ecological Complexity. The publication is open access, freely available for anyone to read.  It deals with 'Early warning signals of regime shifts for aquatic systems: Can experiments help to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application?'. Early-Warning Signals of a regime shift (EWS) could be a very useful parameter for water resource managers and are well established from a theoretical perspective but can be less clear when applied to field data. The work explored the extent to which published experiments could help to bridge the gap between the theory and real-world application by reviewing papers reporting the use of EWS in aquatic experiments.
